So now I have a budget for a car, and its a decent size budget. I have been looking for 240z but they get sold fast. I found this amazing 510 with a great body, interior, and engine. The Engine is rocking his l16. starving for power. Im considering picking this up.
Sooo… This happened to my car while it was parked one saturday evening. I came home after being out all day around 10pm and found my car smashed up. Neighbors told me it was a young girl in a Suburban that hit my car and ran off. Neighbors got a partial plate but there was nothing I could do.
Insurance said was my car was a total loss and it got picked up. Good news is they gave me a good pay out. Full Coverage is worth it.
I broke down the bottom end of my block. Pistons look great and so do the cylinder walls! The harmonic balancer is cracked so I think im going to use the one from my 260z if it works. Crank is in good shape too. Next step is to rebuild the engine!
Things I need to get to put the engine back together
280ZX Piston Rings & 280ZX Main Bearings.
Timing Chain and Gears
After that we build the turbo system!
Finally got to tear down my engine and start the rebuild. My brother-in-law, Brandon, has a spot in Pico Rivera. I brought him my N42 Block N47 Head Motor and we took off the head to see what the Pistons looked like. He took apart my P90 head I just got along with a turbo manifold.
The motor has dished pistons and the block looked like it didnt have very many miles on it.
Next we pull the crank and check out the rods and pistons. From there we make choice for the build of the project. I am hoping to hit 300hp, but 350HP would make me extremely happy.
CAR OF THE DAY: 1st Gen 240z Early Series. This car was built by a man and his two sons from a home “Gentleman’s Garage” in pomona. The story behind this car was interesting. The car was found on Craigslist and was an original rally car. They purchased the car with out an engine and the fellas swapped and RB25 creating custom motor mounts done at home. Much Props
